Our story
Six words changed our lives
From early childhood, we each saw how our parents helped out in our local communities, and we were taught that anything is possible.
Isn't it shocking how much someone can have--- and how little someone else can afford?
Great injustice like this is what our foundation and what our company was founded around.
Growing up in the suburbs, it was necessary to commute by car. Whether to school, the store, even the library, it all required access to a car. But what if you didn't always have access to a car? In this scenario, how is it possible to work, to access the daily necessities?

When I was younger, I found it difficult to obtain my license and ended up receiving it my senior year, much later than everyone else. In the short two years I was unable to obtain a license, I found so many activities more difficult. If I got a job, I needed to rely on someone to drive me there for every shift. If I wanted to hang out with friends, I needed to coordinate a ride there and back and if there wasn't one available, I just couldn't go. Even though the inaccessibility I faced was short lived and small, it gave me a glimpse into the daily life for several Americans. In suburban areas without public transportation, those without cars faced a major obstacle in daily life.
That was when I asked myself,
Shouldn't we do something about this?
Those six words changed the rest of my life.

I started to do work within my own community addressing inaccessible transportation, conferring with people around me what transportation meant to them.

As I began directing my sights towards addressing this injustice, wanting to use my wealth for the betterment of society, I also found uncovered another huge disappointment within American car culture: Climate change. The earth is rapidly heating up in no small part due to the heavy emissions released from cars daily and with the emphasis on cars that America has built, our future is headed towards dire straits.

That is why the Sarah Chen foundation have dedicated ourselves towards the innovation and improvement of transportation to combat climate change and improve the lives of individuals across America.
